Subtitles in Netflix on Apple TV

This is so seriously unadvertised it’s almost criminal (and is it, under the ADA? I don’t know.).

Anyway, for titles on Netflix that support it, with Apple TV’s newest 4.4.2 update (I don’t know if it was supported earlier than that – I just figured it out), you start playing the title, then you press [...]

Personal iOS Apps Reviews – Tower Defense Games

I’ve decided to move on to the turbulent world of games. They’re turbulent because tastes change quickly (even just in my individual gaming life) and because games are cheap, move fast, get released often and sometimes last only a short while (with low replayability). But I also feel like I’ve had enough experience with iOS [...]

Personal iOS Apps Reviews – Note Taking Apps

I primarily take notes for business meetings. In some contexts I want audio recordings. I’m not so concerned with automatically generated transcripts or with in-app folder-style or item-style security but will let you know what I’ve discovered. I am interested in ways to share generated notes with both colleagues and with my other computing devices.

Personal iOS Apps Reviews – iHome+Sleep (Free)

A while ago I went shopping for an iPad 2 compatible accessory that was a charging dock, speakers and maybe an alarm clock/radio. I found a couple of possibilities. One was the iHome iA100, but it was freakin’ expensive! Also, asking around I heard from at least one former owner who said the speakers on [...]

Personal iOS Apps Reviews – AppStart (Free) and AppAdvice (Paid)

More on my favorite iOS apps. Another post about meta-apps (apps that assist you in finding more apps).

Personal iOS Apps Reviews – AppShopper

I’m going to try to do a couple of reviews a week – mainly about iOS apps on my iPad 2 that I particularly like, probably also about accessories that are particularly important to me.

Still quite enjoying the iPad 2

The keyboard (Zagg/Logitech) showed up. It’s quite nice. Other random things follow.

InvisibleSHIELD installed

I’m not a shill here, just sayin’. I’ve applied the Zagg InvisibleSHIELD to my smartphone (still holding up just fine thank you) and to my Dad’s iPad and now to my own iPad 2.

iPad 2

I am getting the iPad up and running.

Media are transferred, apps transferred, various logins are being input. It’s very exciting.

I am quite enjoying it.

I have also ordered the Zagging InvisiSHIELD, the case with a keyboard built-in. And bought some apps made specifically for the iPad 2.

It’s so well-engineered. It’s a pleasure.

Design Strategies – Why I will buy an iPad (2?) instead of an Android Tablet

I’ve had the pleasure of setting up an iPad for my Dad. I had it for about 1 month. I’ve also owned an Android-based smart phone since September.

I’d like to add a tablet to my household and based on my experiences with the two technologies, I think it all boils down to a single [...]
