Hey there!
I’m Malcolm. Mostly this blog will be my self-controlled journal/blog after a few years of getting steadily more and more frustrated with the administration of LiveJournal, where I have until this site kept a log of my various daily activities and topics of thought/writing.
If you’d rather see a blog dedicated to the work I do day to day, and various geeky/professional musings/documentation meant for public consumption, please have a look at my “SharePoint” blog at http://www.malcolmgin.com/msblog.
For this blog I have implemented post viewing security in some form that should map to the kind I use at LiveJournal. Sometimes I post things meant for non-public consumption. If you manage to follow a link to something that says you don’t have permission to see it, more than likely that’s not an error, but by design.
If you register and let me know who you are (or at least who you are in relation to how I know you on, say, LiveJournal), I will happily categorize you into a similar group of permissions that you may already enjoy on LiveJournal.
A note about trolling: Generally I just ignore trollers, but on this journal it’s trivial to delete comments, and if you do troll me, it had better have some value. Be amusing or insightful or whatever. If you can’t be amusing or insightful and you troll me, your comment’s going in the trash. Consider this your fair warning.
Another note: I consider this blog and all of my communications on the Internet as extensions of my Real Life. If you intrude on that, consider you are intruding on my Real Life, and I will engage you in Real Life, if at all. This means you don’t get to say that it was just pretend. If you communicate with me, it’s in Real Life.
If you’re having trouble finding my e-mail address, it’s malcolm.gin@gmail.com.
See ya on the flip side!
P.S. The subtitle to this journal is a reference to the U.S. Monster Truck Rally commercials which often end with the announcer saying: “We’ll sell you the whole seat, but you’ll only need the edge!”
P.P.S. The rotating header image is taken largely from images I created myself, or images that are somehow related to my life and that are freely available.
