More from “Clever Nickname” on MeFightClub (I’m posting because I’m proud of the work in-game, it’s fun and you have to register on MefightClub in order to see the original posts):
These screenshots are all taken at or near sea level on the side of the pyramid that is complete – the above-water part is glass, obsidian an lapis lazuli, lit with torches. There are three more sides to complete with lapis lazuli being the hardest material to obtain. It’s been a real group effort to do that, helped immensely by “Ariffraff” on MeFightClub and Minecraft, who killed thousands of chickens in order to get a Fortune III pick. Which in turn vastly magnifies the number of lapis lazuli harvested from every block of ore.
Anyway, there’s a lot more lapis to harvest in-game to get the other sides completed (same design).
If you look closely, you can see the glass skirt below water, some squid and the floor that we’ve built at sea bed level – you can even see some orange pylons which are part of the elevator system (that’s a Minecraft mod).
My current job? Digging out the diagonally descending perimeter of the rest of the below-ground pyramid. This will set the bounds of digging. My current rate is 1 or 2 blocks down all the way around for each 1-2 hours of play. This uses up one unenchanted diamond pick and of course as I go further down, the perimeter will get bigger and bigger (by 4 blocks per block down). I’m currently at y = 37 and I need to go all the way down to about y = 6. So it’ll be a bit of time unless I get help. Though I was thinking that perhaps I should ask Ariffraff how she became a chickenslayer and do that so I can get some enchantments on my picks. It didn’t seem like it took more than 6 or 7 hours to get some really sweet enchantments.
(The whole chickenslayer thing is because we have hostile mobs turned off – if we had hostile mobs turned on, I could do this with an XP grinder instead.)
Anyhow, the screenshots:
