I'm an intersex and transgendered person and would dearly
like There.com to support one of a couple of suggestions about control
of avatar appearance:
1) Ideally I would like to see a non-gendered avatar available for use
I can provide further opinions about what an androgynous body would look
like, but I suspect that this change to the system would be terribly
difficult with very little payback for There.com, given that intersex
people like
me are rare.
2) Probably less of a challenge and still acceptable to me would be the
ability to switch genders between masculine and feminine at will. It
seems like this would integrate better into the avatar support infrastructure.
changes to ChangeMe would probably be minimal and you already allow avatars
to "Own" clothes their current gendered avatar can't wear,
so flipping the gender flag should probably handle that part of the change.
Also, I think that unlocking the other gender would be fun for people
who
just liked to dress up and increase clothing sales both for There and
for designers in general if each avatar had the opportunity to play dress
up
directly with both genders.
Anyway, something for you to think about. I think it is my right to look
and dress the way I want to, and I would love it if There would help me
fulfill that right.
